- - Purpose of the Package - -
* BRODCAST MASTER (tm) is a comprehensive administration tool
for the MVS (TSO) Broadcast Dataset (formerly known as SYS1.BRODCAST).
* Approximately 27 separate Utility Programs are shipped with this
package, of which 12 are Batch Programs, and 15 are TSO
commands.
The TSO commands all use the TSO Putline interface for terminal
displays, so all of them can also be run under TSO-in-batch.
Therefore you have a complete batch capability to run
every Utility in the package.
* An ISPF interface is provided to Display/Print/Delete SOME or ALL
of a user's messages that are in the Broadcast Dataset itself,
or in any archived copy of the Broadcast Dataset.
* Many other utilities are provided in this package to copy or
archive the entire Broadcast dataset, or to archive and reload
messages from any version or copy of Broadcast.
* Utilities are provided to administer ALL PARTS of the Broadcast
Dataset: (User Messages, Global Notices, and Userids).
* Using utilities in the BRODCAST MASTER (tm) package, you can
even transport a working copy of the Broadcast Dataset across
DIFFERENT DASD DEVICE TYPES.

This means that you can now switch the active
Broadcast Dataset (formerly only a cataloged copy
which had to be called SYS1.BRODCAST)
to a (properly formatted) dataset with any name,
on any DASD Volume !!!
The Brodcast Master (tm) package can create
a copy of the Broadcast Dataset, and
then you can switch z/OS to use that copy.
