Main menu:
Broadcast Dataset Creation Utilities
You can run a Batch Job and clone any existing
Broadcast Dataset to a new one, of any size
or even DASD device type, preserving all Global
Notices, Userids, and User Messages. For average
sized Broadcast Datasets, this entire batch job
(once it has been set up) takes much less than
one minute wall clock time, even on a fairly
slow machine.
Then you can run the PARMLIB UPDATE(xx) TSO
command, or the SET IKJTSO=xx console
command, and switch to the new Broadcast Dataset
immediately !!! All of the Utilities mentioned below,
can be set up to run the Batch Job mentioned above.
BDMCALC, BDMINIT - Calculate space (using
BDMCALC) to format a new Broadcast Dataset of
any size, any number of Global Notices, or any
number of Userids (initially). Then initialize the new
Broadcast Dataset (using BDMINIT) according to
these same quantities, which you have specified
in a SYSIN JCL card.
BDMGTUID, BDMUSORT, BDMULOAD - Bulk dump,
sort and reload of Userid lists (which are editable)
into a new Broadcast Dataset, from (one or more)
old Broadcast datasets.
BDMGTMSG, BDMMLOAD - Bulk message dump and
reload of all (or some) User messages, from an old
Broadcast Dataset into a new Broadcast dataset.
BDMNXPRT, BDMNOTFY - Bulk export and reload of
Global Notices from an old Broadcast Dataset into
a new Broadcast Dataset.
